Baby Ramey’s Progress

At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Your Body This Week

At this point, you may find your belly becoming a hand magnet. It's perfectly okay to tell folks who touch your tummy that you'd rather they didn't. And if people are telling you that you look smaller or bigger than you should at this point, remember that each woman grows — and shows — at her own rate. What's important is that you see your practitioner for regular visits so she can make sure your baby's growth is on track.

19 weeks and moving along.............

We had a big week on the baby front. On Tuesday we had our big mid-pregnancy ultrasound with the specialist and thankfully our baby looks beautiful..... including his brain! This is an area of sensitivity for me and something which haunts me until this appointment is over. I do have to go back to the specialist one last time in 4 weeks but that's just to ensure everything is growing appropriately. He mentioned the baby's heart is the size of a dime at the moment so a double-check is fine by me. Plus this dr seems to be more cautious than most. Either way, getting the a-ok! is music to my ears.

How Far Along? 19w

Size of baby: Over 8.5oz and 6 inches- size of a large heirloom tomato!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: +7lbs

Maternity Clothes: No maternity clothes yet....

Gender: BOY (another....) - no first name although we do have a short list, middle name will definitely be Tyler

Movement: The flutters and nudges are more defined but nothing consistent or anything anyone could feel outside of my belly.

What I miss: nothing really at this point!

Sleep: terrible... but not because of the baby! My dream sleeper boy#1 has taken to needing mommy laying with him each and every night which is pretty uncomfortable.

Symptoms: I've finally gotten beyond the first trimester fatigue. The only real symptoms I'm having is my ever growing belly! I also have been extremely HUNGRY and now THIRSTY!!!!

Stretch marks: No sign of any stretch marks

What I am looking forward to: trip to STL for Memorial Day to meet baby Madden- I love being there so Im looking forward to it!

Belly button (in or out): In

Milestones: Made it past the first trimester and definitely have regained some of my energy!

Baby Ramey’s Progress:

Your baby's sensory development is exploding! Her brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. Some research suggests that she may be able to hear your voice now, so don't be shy about reading aloud, talking to her, or singing a happy tune if the mood strikes you.
Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of an heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

14weeks Preggo

I figure its finally time to start putting these together, even if I don't post them. I'm already long behind where I started last time with Gavin. Oh well, guess that's what happens with Baby#2. I'll save these for future posts until I'm ready to post a catch up to where we are today.

Baby Ramey’s Progress
Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb. Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as histiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him -- a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches -- about the size of a lemon -- and weighs 1 1/2 ounces.

18 week update!

It's truly unbelievable how bad I am at all of these updates compared to pregnancies past, but oh well, Ill still chug along as I think to do them. Mostly, I want to keep up with them because I have loved going back and reading about  my pregnancy with Ethan/Gavin so I want to be able to do the same for this little one!

Baby Ramey’s Progress
Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long, and he weighs almost 7 ounces (about the size of a bell pepper). He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.
